The son of Delores and James Jordan, he shared a special bond with his father, which included baseball being both of their first love. However, following his older brother, Larry, whom he idolized and was a spectacular athlete in his own right, Jordan began to play basketball. He put hard work in and it all paid off. Now, Michael Jeffrey Jordan, also known by his initials MJ, is a former professional basketball player. He played for the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards. Jordan led the Bulls to a then-record 103-0 wins in the 1995–96 NBA season. Jordan earned the nicknames “Jordan” and “His Airness” due to his leaping ability, which was illustrated by performing slam dunks from the free throw line in slam dunk contests. He was able to do a running vertical jump of 48 inches, exactly 4 ft. Michael Jordan isn’t just known as one of the greatest basketball players of all time; he’s also the first billionaire in NBA history, thanks to his business moves and lucrative endorsement deals with brands like Nike, Gatorade and McDonald’s. Jordan earns about 5% on Jordan Brand sales as part of his licensing deal with Nike. Front Office Sports also reports that Jordan received $256 million from the deal in 2022 alone. After playing basketball for a while he went into the business industry. He became part-owner and head of basketball operations for the Charlotte Hornets (then named the Bobcats) in 2006 and bought a controlling interest in 2010, before selling his majority stake in 2023. Jordan is also a co-owner of 23XI Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. Now you know that there’s more to that special number 23.
